read 1 corinthians 1:5-11. therein you will see that christ is the true foundation for the christian, and that paul/apollos (perhaps we could substitute the watchtower society here) are only those who have introduced us to that foundation.
once that foundation is laid the mature christian should not be relying on the teachings of those men for direction but should be building on the foundation by relying on jehovah's direction.
the following quote from a 1984 watchtower article makes interesting reading.. .

I know so many good people there at Bethel, that I would like to think that their kindness would extend to a proactive assistance of all. And yet knowing the individuals I am still unsure of what may have been done.
I also found it kind of fun to watch the video and see an old friend of mine being interviewed. I've known Mike Wityk since before he was married and while he still was a volunteer at Bethel. If I remember right he's pretty good with his Linux programming. And worked his ass off on leaving the House in order to get his Certifications.
After watching the video from the PR department. I would say it was woefully lacking in information that was meaningful, it left you with no real idea as to how extensive their help was. Having lived and worked there at Bethel, remembering how many people that would go through on tours on any given day 850 - 900 people being served coffee and pasta as refreshment seems inadequate to the numbers shown streaming across the Brooklyn Bridge. I would love to believe that any and all who crossed the Bridge were offered something whether they chose to accept the help or not. I'm not sure...
Thanks for posting the link to the video clip... I enjoyed it.

any news on this hotel?
it is next to the trade towers.
we have friends that work there.
By now you probably know that the Millenium Hotel is no more. But just in case I posted this note.

Who has enjoyed a fine time or two there in the past.
what if it turns out that these terrorist attacks came from some of our own citizens?.
this has been such a terrible thing and every one seems to be focused.
on the middle east.. has any one else considered this possibility?.

Another thing, most Arab groups are too disorganised and undisciplined for this type of attack.
In general I would agree with you on this from what I've seen in the past. However 'bin Ladan' has already proven himself able and willing to make very organized attacks on US targets. Examples are the embassies in Africa and the Naval vesel that he put a hole into.
The U.S. security at the airports is shit, most people recognize that. Anyone who has traveled abroad recognizes the difference between our US security and say the security in place in Israel or even Germany with their airposrts and flights. Some of these countries are out and out paranoid. While here in the US if you can flip burgers or wash windows you can be an airport security guard. Can we say, "minimum wage opportunity". Sad to say we get what we pay for, and that is insecurity.
Ranchette-
True the Arabs don't have a corner on the wacko, fanatical market and it could be that it was "one of own". But I don't think so. I seem to remember 'bin Ladan' saying something 7-8 years ago about his failed attempt on the WTC and saying that he would bring it down. I could be wrong on this its been along time.
However after the surrealness of hearing the news this morning had settled, his name popped clearly to mind.

if there was ever a blatant display of the dangers of religious fanatacism, this is it.
the hi-jackers of the airliners that crashed today no doubt thought they'd immediately be sitting next to allah this-afternoon.
You don't see the silently shocked people on the streets. So you don't see them on TV. TV does not equal "reality".
I couldn't agree more.
Seeing this Palestian woman and her children dancing in the street or men firing their weapons into the air in celebration of today's attack disgusted me. It incensed me. And I had to remind myself that it was these individuals who should disgust me and not all Muslims or Arabs.
My cousins husband is Arabic, he is a professor, and he is a naturalized American. Tonight he and his wife are in prayer for the victims and survivors of todays incident. I would not want people to hate him or wish him any harm because of the color of his skin or country of his birth.
This blind unreasoned hatered is something that all of us IMO must be on guard against.
I also would wish everyone involved in these acts of terrorism a slow and painful death. And I hope that we as a nation find out who they are and take care of them no matter the race or religion.

:i welcome those of your quality of character and refusal to sink into the mire of atheism or deep cynicism, .
i found these words to be so interesting.
i have seen posts (albeit few) that discuss the bible and whether or not it is of god.
I will say that while I am not an atheist, I also am not a Christian.
I like what Seeker said:
"The thing about atheism is that you are free to examine and study everything under the sun without fear of what you might find. Nothing you find can possibly shake you, for if you find something that alters your world view, you merely do just that: alter your world view. No problem."
and...
"Life is simpler as an atheist or agnostic. You need not fear any knowledge whatsoever. Even proof of God's existence would be welcome, for the atheist is such not because he or she has anything against God, but merely sees a lack of evidence for God. If such evidence were ever to finally manifest itself, they would gladly believe. So life is indeed simpler for the atheist, and much more complicated for the believer. And no, atheism is not a belief, but is a lack of belief."
This reminded me of something that I had recently read by Charles Templeton about agnosticism.
'The agnostic does not say, as is commonly beleived, "I do not know whether or not there is a God." He says, "I cannot know. There may have been a First Cause to which one might apply the name God,... but on the basis of the evidence the question is beyond resolution.'
'As to whether or not there is a God, one may not simply beg the question by saying, "I cannot know." This is an intelectual cop-out, a failure to attempt within the limits of one's ability to seek an answer to what is surely the ultimate question. One may not legitimately say, " I cannot know," unless one has sought to know.'
This is a point that K'lyn has made to me time and time again, that we need to seek and look for the answer. I happen to agree we need to seek. To be open, to be willing to change our beliefs or ideas as we discover new information. This being open to examining my beliefs is what has lead me to reject Christianity as the revealed religion of God.
Just adding my 2 cents...

welcome to a new universe... today is thursday and the beginning of a new universe.
all of us get to start over and make brand new mistakes as of now.
so remember, today you should take the opportunity to say s.h.i.t.
Welcome to a new universe... Today is Thursday and the beginning of a new universe. All of us get to start over and make brand new mistakes as of now. So remember, today you should take the opportunity to say S.H.I.T.
Yes, each and every one of us should remember that today we are S.H.I.T. And aren't we happy that we are S.H.I.T. at least once a week.
Now for those of you who don't know or don't remember. The origin of S.H.I.T. began one Thursday night at a Kingdom Hall in the Bronx. Many of us know that we heard a lot of S.H.I.T. there. We even said S.H.I.T. while we were there convincing others to believe S.H.I.T. too.
Tonight we can be S.H.I.T. without having to listen to others drone on about being S.H.I.T. all because we no longer believe their S.H.I.T.
So welcome to a New Universe
Sure Happy Its Thursday!
